Who runs this, and what it refuses to do
AIPayList is a live directory of paid AI work, ranked by rates read from the platforms' own job feeds. It exists because the honest answer to “what does this actually pay?” was scattered across marketing pages, Reddit threads and recruiter claims — and the loudest number was almost always a ceiling nobody earns.

Who maintains it
One person: Alex, an operations and automation consultant working in Europe. There is no company behind this site, no investors, no sales team, and nobody can buy a position on it. Corrections, complaints and takedown requests all go to the same inbox: contact@aipaylist.com, and they reach the person who wrote the code.
What this work actually is
These are flexible contract engagements, not full-time jobs: hourly work you do alongside your main job, paid for expertise you already have. Three things worth knowing before you start:
- Side income, not a career change. Almost every role here is remote, hourly and asynchronous. You choose the hours; platforms pay per hour or per task. Roles that require full-time commitment say so in the listing, and we label them.
- Your existing expertise is the qualification. Lawyers review legal reasoning, doctors grade medical answers, engineers evaluate code, native speakers rate translations. The platforms teach you their tools — the domain knowledge is what you are paid for.
- You learn how frontier AI is actually trained. Rubric-based evaluation, RLHF, red-teaming: the processes top labs use, from the inside. That experience is itself becoming a paid skill.
Rules this site will not break
- No selling placement. Ranking is by verified pay, and money never moves it.
- No ranking on ceilings. “Earn up to $X” is labeled and excluded from every sort and every average — see the methodology.
- No converting per-task pay into an hourly rate we cannot verify.
- No inventing listings, and no hiding that some roles publish no pay at all — those are shown, not guessed.
- No hidden referral links. Where a link pays us, it says so beside the link — disclosure.
- No cookies, no ad-tech, no selling anyone's email.
Common questions
Are AI training jobs full-time?
Mostly no. Nearly every listing here is remote contract work paid by the hour or by the task, and you choose when to do it. Some projects do ask for full-time availability — when a posting says so, the job page carries a "Full-time" tag taken from its own words. The median verified rate across the live feed is $43/hr as of 2026-08-25.
Can I do AI training work alongside a full-time job?
Yes, and that is how most people use these platforms. The work is asynchronous with no fixed schedule, so it scales to the hours you actually have. Where a posting states an expected weekly commitment, that appears on the job page as a tag.
Do I need AI experience to get paid for AI training work?
Usually not. Platforms pay for expertise you already have — law, medicine, software, science, a language — and train you on their own evaluation tools. Specialist domains earn the top verified rates: law & legal currently runs a median of $125/hr.
What skills do you gain from AI training work?
You learn how frontier labs actually evaluate and improve models: rating outputs against rubrics, RLHF-style comparisons, red-teaming, and prompt analysis. Those are becoming paid skills in their own right.
