The role, as Alignerr describes it
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced life science topics. Your deep domain expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemical concepts — from protein folding to metabolic flux analysis.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your scientific knowledge beyond the lab, contribute to transformative AI research, and work entirely on your own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr - Type: Hourly Contract - Location: Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do

* Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance * Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step scientific responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level AI reasoning in the life sciences * Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards * Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry or misapplied stereochemistry, and provide structured feedback to improve the model's scientific thinking * Work Independently — Complete tasks asynchronously on your own schedule with full remote flexibility
Who You Are
* Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field * Strong foundational expertise in areas such as structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics * Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in writing * High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols * Self-motivated and comfortable working independently * No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
* Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or review systems * Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST * Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
Why Join Us
* Work on intellectually stimulating problems at the frontier of AI and life science * Fully remote and flexible — work when and as much as you choose * Collaborate with a global network of scientists and researchers * Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models are built and trained * Freelance autonomy with the potential for ongoing work and contract extension
