Mindrift: why we stopped listing it
We stopped listing Mindrift because advertised hourly rates did not match what its own contributors reported, including on Python and data-scraping tasks whose headline pay sat on a specialist board most people never reach. Pay is per accepted task against a time budget, so a careful worker or a failed quality review can earn nothing like the advertised hour. For work whose rates we can still verify, check the live listings and the other platforms still on AIPayList.
Why Mindrift is not listed here
- ▲ The advertised range is the ceiling, not the job. Contributors describe open and exploratory tasks working out at single-digit dollars an hour, and roughly $15 to $30 once they reach tutor or evaluation work. The $60 to $100 figures belong to a specialist board that needs a strong engineering, consulting or research profile to enter.
- ▲ Pay is per accepted task against a time budget, not per hour. Working carefully lowers your effective rate rather than raising your pay, and a task that fails an opaque quality review pays nothing at all. One reviewer screened for advertised $70 to $100 an hour work and was then offered $0.35 a task.
- ▲ Getting in is long and barely paid. Contributors repeatedly describe hours of training and qualification for $30 to $40 total, followed by stretches with nothing in the queue. Task scarcity after onboarding is the most common complaint, and it is what pulls a plausible hourly figure down to an implausible one.
- ▲ Its listings were also the largest single source of repetition in this directory: one role posted 26 times, once per country, three of them the United States.
In fairness: None of this makes Mindrift a scam, and it is not listed here as one. People are paid, payouts arrive, and contributors who land the specialist board report rates that stand up. Its own review score sits near the middle rather than the bottom. If you have a strong technical or consulting profile and want flexible side money, applying directly is a reasonable thing to do.

Country: Mindrift states that rewards vary by region and are adjusted to local cost-of-living indexes, so the same task pays less in a lower-cost country. Contributors in higher-cost countries are the ones who most often call the open-task rates too low to bother with.

The list has two halves for two different reasons. The first twenty seven places are sanctions and export-control exclusions. The other thirty nine, in Mindrift's own words, are not currently supported because its identity verification provider does not cover them, or because reliable contracting and payment rails are not available. source
Kenya, Switzerland and Taiwan are in that second half, not the sanctions half, and Mindrift says that half may change as its coverage improves. So Kenya is worth re-checking rather than writing off. source
