How to get a job on Ethos, step by step

By Alex. First published 2026-09-14. Pay figures as of 2026-10-12, from live platform feeds.

Ethos is different from Mercor and micro1. There is no public job board to browse. You sign up, an AI voice agent interviews you, Ethos builds your profile from your answers, and opportunities are matched to you on your dashboard. Ethos publishes almost nothing about this route, so this page is my own account of it, from my own recent work there. Across every platform this site reads, typical advertised top rates of $35–$110/hr (median $70/hr, from 541 distinct advertised rates across 23 platforms). Ethos has no public feed we can measure, so its rates are not in that figure.

I built this site, and I have worked on Mercor, micro1 and Ethos myself recently, on top of a day job. The parts marked first-hand are mine. I keep these pages current to the best of my ability, and if you meet something different from what is written here, email contact@aipaylist.com or use the Ask Alex box on any page, and I will fix it for everyone who comes after you.

1. Sign up and land on the dashboard

You create the account on Ethos's site and land on a dashboard. There is nothing to apply to yet. The dashboard is where matched opportunities will appear later, and where an application shows its stage: Matched, Ethos call, Review and Outcome.

2. The first interview, about 20 minutes

The interview came quickly after sign-up. It is a voice conversation with Ethos's AI agent, similar in format to micro1's, and it took me about 20 minutes: a brief overview of my experience, then her questions about it. Have a 60-second version of your experience ready, because that opening comes first.

3. Your profile fills in, and a few short follow-ups

After the interview my profile showed the details Ethos took from my answers, and it proposed a few more interviews to clarify them. I did several, each about 15 to 20 minutes, and each one added detail to the profile. This is the part that decides what you get matched to, so it is worth doing them rather than skipping.

4. Wait for matches, then apply

Then there is a wait with nothing on the board. When opportunities appeared, several came at once, and I applied to more than one. It took a few weeks from applying to being accepted and starting on a project. The stages you see on each application are Matched, Ethos call, Review and Outcome.

5. Pay

Ethos pays twice a month, which is in line with the other large platforms. It pays through Wise, which it partners with, and usually in dollars, so a Wise account that can receive dollars is the simple route. Payment cadence and method are from my own account and can change. If you do not have a Wise account yet, my invite below gives you a free Wise card or a fee-free first transfer, whichever Wise offers in your country.

How the rate is set

This site shows the top of the advertised band because it is the most a listing can pay. The rate you agree will usually be lower, and the three platforms set it in three different ways. On Mercor you enter the rate you agree to in your profile settings and it applies to your applications. On micro1 you bid on each application separately. On Ethos the rate is fixed per opportunity and you cannot change it.

The process moves

Ethos changes these steps from time to time, and the pages linked below are where I check. If what you meet differs from this page, tell me, by email at contact@aipaylist.com or in the Ask Alex box, and I will update it so the next person gets the current route.

Common questions

How long is the Ethos interview?
About 20 minutes for the first one, in my own case, then a few follow-up interviews of about 15 to 20 minutes each that fill in your profile.
Is there an Ethos job board?
No. Opportunities are matched to you and appear on your dashboard, sometimes several at once after a wait. You apply to the ones you want from there.
How is the rate set on Ethos?
It is fixed per opportunity, and you cannot change it. If you are accepted to more than one, Ethos may upgrade you to the better-paying one.
How does Ethos pay?
Twice a month, through Wise, usually in dollars, in my experience. A Wise account that can receive dollars is the simple route. If you need one, my Wise invite on this page gives you a free card or a fee-free first transfer, depending on your country.
